George Rimmer, a founder member of the society, has had a
lifelong interest in gardening. He left school at 16 to work at a
market garden where he stayed for 34 years. He then became Allotment
Officer and Horticultural Advisor for the Liverpool City Council later
transferring to the Training Department as Chief Instructor for Parks.
He then took over as Head Gardener and Farm Manager at a handicapped
persons' centre before retiring at 65. He has always been a stalwart
member of the society and his expertise and enthusiasm is priceless!
