Dream
Holiday
by Deborah Kelly
I
wish we could stay here forever,
just you and me.
We’d
watch the tide creep in, then out
enjoying being free.
We’d
watch the waves come and go
Strolling
across the sands.
Paddling
in the cool surf,
with time on our hands.
Stretched
out on soft warm sand
With
the breeze in our hair, we’d lie.
Comfortable
in silence,
Mesmerized
by the blue of the sky.
I
wish we could stay here forever
life isn’t like a dream.
must work for our stolen moments
we are not as free as we seem.

Notches
on Your Bedpost,
Cuts in Women’s Hearts
by
Ray Peel
You
keep a record of your life and all that you've achieved;
The fish you caught, the races won and goals you’ve scored or saved.
Tell your friends and boast of fame you think that you deserve,
The whole of life is, to you, an endless chase of mirth.
This tireless round of keeping track impacts on all your life,
And is perhaps the reason why you cannot keep a wife.
You find the sport in hunting - the chase and then the kill -
You use fine words and little gifts to bend her to your will.
A time of love, of shared delight and hearts in passion lost;
Before you throw her from your life, a notch on your bedpost.
There is another side to this; a tale that must be told;
Of women who believe your lies and think your heart is gold.
Then they find the truth within and feel that deepest wound,
A heart that’s cut and cries with blood yet never makes a sound.
You see the chase and use your charms to make that girl your own,
And then you turn your back on her and ignore the pain you’ve sown.
She feels her dreams all turn to dust, falling down upon the yard
Now she knows for sure your heart’s not gold but iron - and just as hard!
And so she knows she’s learnt a lesson, but at such a heavy cost;
The knowledge that she is, to you, just a notch on your bedpost.
Now
please don’t laugh as I come to this, and tell you of another,
The Bible speaks of One above who sticks closer than a brother.
We read that He is most concerned with those who’s hearts are torn;
The widow and the orphan child, those who wished they were not born.
Plan the chase and press the hunt thinking only of your delight;
Never giving second thought to when your day will turn to night.
You are a man, that’s plain to see, but men are made to share their lives
-
With friends and family members, but most of all with wives!
So mend your ways and change your heart - ask God to do His part -
Stop making notches on your post, and find that one who’ll share your
heart.
